I completed the NSWM degree in 1996. The course and ‘big picture’ thinking that it provided have truly given me a leading edge in the job market over the last 10 years. When I first started working in the industry, I felt that I needed more specialist knowledge rather than the generalist overview that the course provided. However, since that time, I have found that it is the general principles, strategic thinking and understanding of linkages that are of greatest importance in natural resource management. I would not hesitate to recommend the NSWM course to others, as subsequent dealings with other universities and courses have shown me that NSWM teaches a ‘way of thinking’ that others do not. Natural resource management truly is about managing the whole system, not individual components!! |
