Project Title: Building Effective Supply Chain in Developing Countries: A case Study of Mango Supply Chain Building in Pakistan

Project outline: Pakistan is the fifth largest mango producing country in the world and the Pakistani mango is characterised by sweet taste and delicious aroma. Due to poor post harvest handling and unorganised marketing structure, Pakistani mangos are unable to fetch an attractive price in the international market in comparison to  competitor. A joint project between the Government of Australia and Government of Pakistan was signed to improve the horticultural enterprises in Pakistan, particular the mango industry. The research team has designed a series of activities to improve the overall existing conditions of mango supply chain in Pakistan. This project involves different stake holders like growers, commission agents, exporters, extension workers and different Govt agencies to impart the knowledge of an effective supply chain building. My research project is to evaluate the ongoing activities of the mango supply chain project, specifically with their impact on existing practices in context of supply chain principles.
