Resorting of domestic wool in mills. Unlike imported wool, virtually all Chinese domestic wool has to be resorted by mills before processing. This imposes a variety of costs on the mills but is necessary because of the underdevelopment of the Chinese wool marketing system. Wool is classed and graded crudely and standards and testing systems are rarely applied.
