More Information
Way back in 1971 Brad Kennedy began working with the Department
of Primary industries, Forestry through a three year practical traineeship.
From that time, he began to experience the many facets involved
in the overall management of our production forests. During the
32 years he has travelled this vocational pathway, many policy and
procedural changes have occurred to ensure that the utilisation
of our forest resources are managed in an ecologically sustainable
way.
Whilst with the DPI Forestry, Brad's experiences revolved around
fire management, harvesting planning and control, silvicultural
practices and workforce supervision. Towards the end of the last
century (that sounds bad), after acquiring a Degree in Teaching
and an Associate Diploma in Applied Science, he began a lecturing
role with the Department of Primary Industries in association with
the University of Queensland, Gatton. This is his present position.
Brad's educational role reflects his past experiences in forest
management, where he delivers courses on fire management, mensuration
(or forest inventory) and harvesting & marketing.
